"SERVING RHEA COUNTY THRU AMATEUR RADIO"

The Rhea County Amateur Radio Society, located in Dayton, Tennessee, was formed in 1978 by the few Amateur Operators (HAMS) licensed in Rhea County at that time.

Today we have grown into a thriving club of more than 45 members committed to Emergency Preparedness and Public Service. We have adopted Dr. Archie Morgan's call sign as our own club call.
K4DPD.

We are in the process of constructing a new complex in cooperation with The Rhea County Squadron of The Civil Air Patrol and The Rhea County Chapter of The American Red Cross. The Complex is located at Dayton's Mark Anton Airport.

This joint effort will benefit not only the people of Rhea County, but all of Southeast Tennessee with improved Emergency communications and a joint Emergency Services group.

We look forward to working, training and serving with the Civil Air Patrol and The American Red Cross.

About Our Club:

In 1996 The Rhea County Amateur Radio Society merged with The Rhea County Amateur Radio Club to become a model for other clubs to follow.
We have installed a new repeater and antenna system on Evensville Mtn. (Compliments of Rhea County EOC)
We can often be heard sending CW (morse code) on 28.275MHz around 8:30pm and then later we move to 28.405MHz.USB and chat .
We are planning to start an instruction class that will help you get your ham license if you don't already have one. If you are interested, send some E-Mail to Larry WA4PJP.
We have also formed a Kit Builders group that meets every Monday night at the C.A.P. Complex located at the Mark Anton Airport in Dayton, TN. This group studies everything from breadboards and etching circuit boards to building kits and designing circuits.
If you are interested in joining the group, Contact Larry Lyda 365-6684
We have a group of volunteers we call our "Tower Crew" that go out to other members homes and help with antenna and tower installation. We participate in Field Day each year where amateurs world wide set up under emergency conditions and make as many contacts as possible in a 24 hour period.
We meet the first Saturday of every month 7pm at The Civil Air Patrol Headquarters located at Dayton's Mark Anton Airport.
Membership is $20 per year for Full Membership, $30 per yer for Family Membership, $10 per year for Associate Membership. We have a team of volunteers that give License Exams on a regular basis sponsered by The ARRL.

With the ARES/ RACES groups our club is capable of giving communications support to Agencies such as:
